Time-shift steam generation from waste heat to process energy, with storing waste heat and supply as steam

All too often in the industry, valuable high temperature heat cannot be re-used within operational processes and needs to be released as waste heat. Just hours later, at the same site or at the neighbour’s factory, a gas boiler is starting to provide steam for other processes (e.g. process heat, steam degassing) – but now it’s too late to repurpose the lost energy.


Storing waste heat and using for steam on demand is the missing link towards a better solution, making steam available on-demand dramatically reducing plant fuel and operating costs.

How waste heat to steam works

(1) Waste heat recovery unit at the furnace of one of the customers processes provides continuous and/or discontinuous heat to the ThermalBattery™ via thermal oil
(2) Heat is stored at minimal losses in the ThermalBattery™
(3) The ThermalBattery™ is discharged via the thermal oil loop to the steam generator to supply steam on demand

Off the shelf flue gas to thermal oil heat exchanger available from different suppliers for all ranges of flow-rates, temperatures, flue gases and thermal capacities.

ThermalBattery™-package including modules, insulation, superstructure and thermal foundation.

Thermal-Oil-BOP-package including piping, pumps, expansion-vessel, valves and instrumentation. Depending on customer requirement also independent distributed control system (DCS).


Off the shelf thermal-oil steam generator for generating reliable industrial steam usually in the range of 150°C to 300°C.
